| NEW Update: Processing of Refugee Applicants in Lybia |

CIC September 07, 2010 Recently CIC faced great difficulty in obtaining the exit permits from the Libyan authorities for 10 privately sponsored refugees in Libya who were ready to travel to Canada. Luckily these refugees will travel as planned, but the status of any current or future processing of refugee applications for persons in Libya remain uncertain and unpredictable. While efforts are being made on the ground to remedy this situation, our visa office in Paris as the processing office will be forced to place on hold any sponsorships currently in process, including any future sponsorships submitted to that visa office. CIC will provide any updates to this situation as information becomes available, however sponsoring groups should take this into consideration before submitting any new undertakings for refugees in Libya. |
